Wow! This world is super busy and noisy. Today, there are thousands of great products, services, experts, brands, and influencers. So how do you get noticed for promotion, increase, and attention in the workplace and business?
You need the attention because attention brings sales, promotion, and opportunities. Here are my five tips of getting noticed at work and business
- DO MORE THAN YOU’RE PAID TO WORK OR PERFORM: This principles never goes out of style. When a client pays you N300,000 to do a job, do it with such passion, creativity, and empathy that people will think they paid you N10,000,000 to do the job. This shows that you care about the success of the client and that you’re grateful for the opportunity. By doing that, you’ll attract attention to your work which will eventually lead to a promotion or more business.
- SEND A COMPETENT IMAGE: Perception is reality. People see you first before they hear you. People make decisions based on the information that their five senses give to them, therefore you’ve got to side with their five physical senses to increase your credibility and likeability in their eyes. Look the part and dress for the occasion, make sure your shoes are clean and shined, clothes ironed, grooming done right, and you language appropriate.
- POSITION YOURSELF AS A SOLUTION: Problem pointers are everywhere, but solution providers are scarce. The next time you’re heading to your bosses office with a list of what’s wrong in the business also carry a solution list along with you. By solving problems you’ll increase your market value and customers pay for solutions and not products.
- COMMUNICATE AMAZINGLY WELL: You want to get noticed? Its been said that no matter how much you struggle to get something, after sometime you’ll will be bored with it. We easily get used to things, people, and experiences the moment we adapt our time and lives to them.
This is why, a person gets excited and stoked about their job when they first started and after sometime on the job they lose the drive they started with.
Basically HEDONIC ADAPTATION is how humans adapt to things, people, and experiences and they lose the novelty and freshness it once had.
People get married and after some time they get bored with their spouses.
SPICE THINGS UP
To prevent HEDONIC ADAPTATION from ruining your marriage, job, and relationships here are a few strategies that can help.
- INTRODUCE NOVELTY, SURPRISE, AND VARIETY: People like novelty and surprise for instance, instead of taking your: wife, husband or customer to the ‘regular’ restaurant take them to a different restaurant with different exciting things on the menu. What variety, surprise, or variety can you introduce into your relationship this week to prevent HEDONIC ADAPTATION
- GRATITUDE JOURNAL: Journalling is the process of writing down your thoughts and feelings on paper. Gratitude journalling is the processing of daily writing down the things that you are grateful for having in your life. This process is powerful. I do it regularly. It heightens your awareness, deepens your appreciation, and keeps things fresh. It helps you gain perspective and brings back freshness and deeper appreciation for what you already have; and in the process transcending HEDONIC ADAPTATION.
HEDONIC ADAPTATION causes people to discount all the good things they already have in their lives and focus all their attention on what’s missing and this ruins a lot of relationships and experiences.
If you don’t appreciate your friends and spouses you’ll lose them.
If you don’t appreciate your job and customers you’ll lose them.
So, grab a journal today and write down five things that you’re grateful for and secondly surprise someone today.

#1 WORDS: Your words don’t describe reality, they shape and create reality. Your predominant words affects positively or negatively the way you see reality. If I say to you ‘Dude let’s go to my friends birthday party, but let me warn you it is going to be really really boring out there in the party.’’ Guess what, when you get to the party all that you’ll see and hear will be boring people and boring music. This is because my words have shaped your experience of the party.
So this week, speak only words that can move you closer to the type of life you want to exist in.
#2 DAILY RITUALS: By observing a persons daily routine I can tell the outcome of their lives. Your ultimate success is hidden in your daily routine. I personally have some daily routine or rituals as I like to call them that keeps in a peak state all day. I EXERCISE, WRITE 5 THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR, PRAY, READ MY BIBLE, DRINK COFFEE, HUG AND KISS MY KIDS AND WIFE, READ FOUR CHAPTERS OF THE BIBLE, AND HAVE A GREAT BREAKFAST (Avocado spread, eggs, toasted wheat bread, tea or coffee)
Develop your own personal daily routine that can help you win today.
#3 THE 1% IMPROVEMENT PRINCIPLE: You don’t need a revolution to change your life, what you need is tiny consistent unsung improvements. Do you know that, by improving 1% of health everyday for example, in 30 days you would have improved by 30%. Don’t try to jog around your estate, just jog from your house to the gate on the first day. Don’t try to do 100 push-ups the first day, do 3 push-ups everyday. I do 40 push ups everyday, 30 wraps, and skip daily. But it started from just 5 pushups from June 2016.
#4 THE POWER OF NOW: Yesterday is gone, it’s in the tomb. Tomorrow is not here yet. What you have is NOW!. Your now ‘ACTIONS’ can correct yesterdays blunders and create tomorrows prosperity. WHAT WILL YOU DO, THINK, AND FEEL NOW?
#5 ASK. ASK. ASK: People are not mind readers so they won’t know what is valuable to you. Ask for opportunities, ask for jobs, ask for a date, ask for business. ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE, FOR EVERYONE THAT ASKS RECEIVES.
